3 hot tips for GSD (Get Shit Done)

Resourceful people do GSD

People who get shit done (their own as well as everyone else’s) are resourceful.

Most people think that the term resourceful means drawing from within themselves to make things happen and pushing hard.  However, people who really make things happen and implement creative solutions with long term benefits are resourceful not because they constantly push themselves to do more.  Pushing ourselves can lead to overwhelm and exhaustion.

My experience tells me that it takes three things for resourceful people to really get shit done.

Have a strong team around you.

This means colleagues who are committed to making things happen and care about the end result.  They are different from us, not the same. They value the outcomes rather than how and you do too.

Your team includes support at home that you cultivate every day.  You support them and they support you.  No person is an island and the stronger the support around us the better our chances of being resilient and GSD.

The quick hot tip: Decide one thing you can do today which builds your team

Manage your energy not your time

Often we are taking home only the leftovers of ourselves because we have drained ourselves at work. We can stop feeling numb at the end of the day and end up arguing at home.  We can create sustainable ways to spend hours having fun with your loved ones

People who want a strong team must bring home the best of themselves, that means managing your energy during the day.

When you know you have a busy day try to take tasks away and add in activities that give you energy and help to maintain your calm.

The quick hot tip: review your diary for the week and delete some draining activity and add something which will lift you up.

Invest in yourself and your team

The more emotional intelligence we have and the stronger our intuition and self-awareness the more capable we are to really GSD.  Resourceful people invest in the development of themselves and their team so they can be ever more resourceful.  Asking for support and development from others is the ‘smart thing’ to do not the ‘weak thing’. Many very wealthy and influential people have a coach and have had for years. The investment is really about our belief in ourselves.

Coaching is like most things, it depends on the quality of the time and energy we put into it. Both Sarah and I get coached and have invested in coaching for ourselves over a number of years so that we can be the best we can be.  We wholeheartedly believe in the value we get and give from our coaching investments.

The quick hot tip: Sarah or I will give you a complimentary 1:2:1 experience to explore coaching. Don’t wait until 2021 – get a jump start.
