What if letting go is a super power we can all be cultivating?
We are taught to gather, seek and collect as we go through life. It has certainly been a theme throughout my life and I can see it in my family and friends also. I judged myself on my ability to accumulate and attain things. I worried about so many things including what other people thought of my ability to accumulate.
However, the reality is that you truly can’t take it with you… My own experiences tell me how short life is and that judgement and shame are so debilitating in living a happy and healthy life. Often the least wealthy people in the world are amongst the happiest, with an almost inverse relationship between money and happiness.
Ways to let go
As I talk to more and more clients I realise how many of us are busy accumulating, sweating the small stuff and thinking a lot about what other people think about us…. All things with the potential to let go of!
There are many ways to let go and its something I work with my clients on. If we are to get different results we have to let go of the patterns of thinking which generate our current results. Sometimes this is scary and sometimes funny but always good to expose our thinking to the light and make deliberate choices about where to next. Letting go is a super power!
I love this quote and article on letting go:
“To let go does not mean to get rid of. To let go means to let be. When we let be with compassion, things come and go on their own.” –Jack Kornfield
