Introducing Scarcity
I’m not enough and there isn’t enough…
During coaching sessions, this topic comes up again and again for my clients. Those doubts and feelings of dissatisfaction and frustration keep coming up for them. There is an underlying theme which keeps them pinned in those thoughts.
Those thoughts are painful and keep them spinning in circles rather than progressing forward with the life and career they want to enjoy.
The ‘not enough’ theme
The theme is scarcity in the way that we think. Across multiple avenues of our life it might look something like this:
Self Image: I’m not skinny enough, fit enough, good looking enough, happy enough, kind enough, friendly enough…..
Finances: I don’t earn enough, I want to spend less, I don’t have enough assets, I need another xxx …. There is never enough money to have want I want or need
Career: I’m not good enough, I’m not valued enough, I should have done better, maybe there is some other direction I should go….
Relationships: What if there is someone else better? I’m not enough they will probably leave me, My relationship isn’t good enough, I want more…
Health: I’m not skinny enough, I’m not healthy enough, I feel the need to eat/ drink/smoke etc more,
The photo I have inserted is how I think about this scarcity concept. For me, it’s like a scrabbling inside (with claws!) to have something more. It makes me strive and feel like something is missing. Actually, if I slow down and be deliberate I get much further faster.
Like some help to feel enough?
If you would like some help with your version of the “scarcity possum” let me or Sarah know and we can do a complimentary session to kick off your work to get relief around those feeling.
In our coaching experience kit, we have created a set of tools to dig into this and create vitality beyond these thoughts. It’s all part of creating a balanced life – dealing with those things that throw us off balance.
